I have a 1973 R75/5 and I noticed a fork oil leak at the bottom left fork. I went ahead and replaced both sides fork oil and crush washer. The right side is good/dry but the left side keeps weeping. I have tightened the nut snug then tighter, (holding with an allen wrench at bottom) I have tried different size crush washers but the left side still weeps. Why is right side good/dry but not left, any thoughts, what inside the fork might cause this?

So I bought this bike a month ago pretty cheap. It ran but the clutch push rod was broken (that's what the seller told me). Started disassembly and out came the adapter and thrust bearings and only a portion of the push rod so now more disassembly in the works, which is probably a good thing because of age of bike. My question - is broken push rod a common problem or any idea what may cause it to crack?

I just put a deposit, and am arranging transport, of a 1975 R60/6 that's currently located near Erieville, NY.

It's a single owner, female owned, really clean, white bike with a Parabellum Scout fairing with a tall touring screen. Very well maintained with about 250k miles. I'll receive it in August, so as you can imagine, I'm doing a lot of research...

If you are also an MOA member, the listing can be seen here.

I've embarked on a "Rider Resto" on a 78 R100RS. It might make a good article. Already have a working title, Born in a Barn" since it actually spent over half it's life in a barn, complete with chickens and their "exhaust".

As she heads towards her 50th birthday, I figured it may be time to reverse not only the effects of time in a harsh environment and bad choices by the original owner. This includes a horrific silver smoke paint job over the original gold.

With only 13,000 miles, it is generally mechanically solid, except for leaks (pushrod tube seals, base gaskets), an ugly groove in the right jug where the rings rusted in the bore (deeper than a double bore would clean up). She's going to get some upgrades, cleanup, and gold paint.

Tonight, I put new rings on the right piston and fit it into the jug. Going to have to start taking pictures.

When this one is done, I've got an '81 RT with 90k that will get a once-over too.

I wanted a project bike so I obtained my first airhead. 1977 R75/R. That's what all the documentation says and all the serial numbers agree. The front cover looks like it might have a 1975 or 76 ignition sensor, it has the centrifugal governor. Doesn't show that on the 1977 fiche I have been looking at. The cover has 3 holes instead of 2 also as stated on the fiche. Did BMW mix/match? Attached is a picture. Anyway, how do you remove it?
