Coming this September 3-6, 2026, join fellow Airheads for the first edition of western North Carolina’s Airheads in the Southern Alps at Big Lynn Lodge in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. Situated right off the Blue Ridge Parkway at 3100 feet, enjoy picturesque views and wonderful accommodations at this historic venue.
There is no registration fee for this event, only your room rate cost for the weekend.
Planned activities in the works will be a place to wrench on a bike. We are in the early stages of acquiring a bike lift, and some tools to use and share. If you have your own set of tools, please bring them to ensure that you will have what YOU need. Updates to the rally preparations will be periodically updated in Airmail’s Upcoming Events section. Limited snacks and drinks will be provided, but a nearby Wal-Mart will supply all your needs, as a few grocery stores in town.
Nearby attractions are Linville Falls, Lake James in Marion (down the mountain), downtown Little Switzerland (Little Switzerland Cafe is awesome for lunch and dinner), a cool coffee shop, bookstore and convenience store, and of course, the Blue Ridge Parkway. A note about the BRP, parts are still closed due to Hurricane Helene in September 2024. Work is ongoing and parts are reopening every month. But there are plenty of riding nearby. Also nearby is Boxer2Valve in Hendersonville, North Carolina, about an hour’s ride to the southwest and an amazing BMW dealership in Asheville, North Carolina… Eurosport Asheville.
The very distinct possibility of routes (GPX only and Street only… no ADV provided at this time) will be provided for you to have fun with.
With your hotel reservation you get a full breakfast and dinner each day you stay there, included in your nightly charge. Individual cabins that can sleep up to four are available, a motor court style block of rooms and two two-story buildings are where you can stay.
A fire pit, chairs on each cabin’s front porch and views from the lodge make this the perfect place to spend the weekend.
Room rates are 140.00 for Mountain View rooms on Thursday, September 3 and 170.00 for Friday and Saturday nights.
Room rates are 125.00 for Parkway View rooms on Thursday, September 3 and 155.00 for Friday and Saturday nights.
These prices do not include tax. Please remember that with each nightly stay, you get two meals included.
To reserve your room CALL or email at: (828) 765-4257 or info@biglynnlodge.com. Online booking is not available as these rooms have been blocked off for this event. Some rooms have already been booked, so act soon! Check out the Lodge’s website at https://www.biglynnlodge.com/. Big Lynn Lodge is located at 10860 Hwy 226-A, Little Switzerland, North Carolina 28749.
There is no tent camping allowed on the property, only stays in the 36 available rooms on the premises allowed. Nearby campgrounds are available as are other motels in nearby Spruce Pine, North Carolina, just six miles to the north of Little Switzerland. One option for tent camping is Spacious Skies Bear Den (https://spaciousskiescampgrounds.com/bear-den/) in Spruce Pine about 10 miles away. Another option is Linville Falls Campground (https://linvillefalls.com/) in nearby Linville Falls, about 18 miles away.
If you have any questions or suggestions to make this an epic weekend, contact Chris Parker (Airmail Editor-in-Chief) at editor@airheads.org or 864-915-9925.
