Newbie here. I've got an 81 RS that I'm in the middle of tearing down to restore/refresh. I want to powder coat the frame and I know I'll most likely lose the VIN sticker on the lower frame rail in the process. Are there any places out there that can replicate the VIN sticker or provide a stamped plate that I can attach afterwards? Thanks in advance.
Doing it yourself or taking it to someone? If someone else I think the power coater can protect it from damage. If doing it yourself a professional shop that does powder coating may be willing to tell you how to safely protect it.
You might contact Max BMW and ask them. A couple of years ago they built an R90S from ordered parts. That frame probably didn't come with a tag.
