Bought this about 7 weeks ago.  Been wrenching more than riding.  Think I amd done wrenching for a while.

Is this forum always this dead.  Newest posts 2 weeks old.  Most are months or years old.   Wondering if joining was a mistake.

Hello from Texas. So, you are a new club member I presume. Welcome!  Very nice airhead!  Is it your first airhead?

Yes, this forum is mighty slow. Seems only to be a small group that checks in each week or so. I see now the club started a Facebook group. Maybe that will be more lively.

Yes.  It’s my first BMW.  I rode mostly Japanese bikes for most of my 48 years of riding with one Ducati and a Norton.  Now my garage is 4 European bikes.  I sold a KTM 390ADV that I almost never rode and decided to buy something that I wanted when I first started riding but never had.  The BMW popped up and I bought it.  I really like riding it.  Slow and clunky by modern standards but for some reason I keep rolling it out to ride.

Welcome from Georgia !

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.

Hi Robert, you joined just after Airmarshals received their new members notices, so at the least you should hear from your Airmarshal next month. Airheads are not to be the most digitally adept group in general so no, not a lot of traffic here. There is the 'Airheads Beemer Club' on Facebook if you are on it, your Airmarshal - Karen Ager - karenandgus@juno.com may have a state email list and there may be an area email list such as we have in the Northeast. There is also the non-club email list at https://lists.micapeak.com/mailman/listinfo/airheads and a number of folks are in the Airhead area on https://www.advrider.com/. Make sure to check out the calendar here for events that may be near you, welcome to the club!

Welcome Robert. Only you can decide if joining the Airheads was a mistake. I have found , over the many years I have been a member, that the club truly exists when the membership joins together at tech days and rallies and camp outs. There are maybe a dozen regular participants here on the website. What you gain in being a member is access to a group of owners who possess knowledge and experience to help you solve any issue you may have with what is now an antique motorcycle. Your Alabama Airmarshal should be able to put you in contact with more localized persons for guidance and the Forum here expands the circle of assistance.

It's definitely not ADVrider but it's a good little forum. I have had any number of people pipe up when I've had tech questions which has been very helpful for me. Count yourself lucky you have other airheads half close to you. I only know of 3 other airheads currently in my whole province and in Atlantic Canada all 5 of the Nova Scotia airheads have left the club. It's pretty lean in the airhead department anywhere in this region.
