I have posted earlier about my clutch push rod. It ran when I bought it but never drove it as the seller told me the clutch push rod was broken which meant I had to pull the gear box to fix. So I pulled the gearbox and got the broken push rod and out and since I had the gear box out I went ahead and pulled the clutch and figured why not pull the flywheel to replace the oil seal and oil pump seal. The clutch has some odd wear patterns and the fly wheel might be of a concern. Anyone have any thoughts or comments, especially with the flywheel?

I will have to add pics 1 at time.

All I see is standard ring gear wear from the starter Bendix. The Airhead starter engages the flywheel much more like an automobile than other motorcycles. The Bendix might be slow to engage and disengage, that's all I can think of.

All Airheads have the same issue in that the grease chosen for starter bearings (now 50+ years on) has oxidized. This usually shows up as VERY retarded (slowed) starter motor cranking RPM. You don't need new bearings, but you will need to disassemble the starter and pump some modern synthetic grease into those bearings. The same goes for your starter engagement system. Clean it and lubricate it.

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
