1981 R100RT Transmission repair service
I live near Detroit and I'm seeking a Trans rebuild service that does good work that might be near. I've got about 80K on the bike and at present have a broken shifter pawl spring. Makes since to do what's needed while it's open. Considering shipping it to Barrington motor works but wondering if there could be some other nearer options as well.
Have you searched the ads in Airmail ?
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
Yes, there is Bob's and as far as I can tell, Boxer two Valve just sells parts and how too info which is great, and Dave Alquist isn't do Transmissions any more.
Hello from south Texas. If you wind up having to ship it off somewhere, you might also consider Scottie’s Workshop out in CA. Scottie’s rebuilt my final drive - I would think they do transmissions, as well.
You might also consider replacing 5th gear with the Siebenrock “tall” gear, which reduces rpm’s by 5% in top gear. It’s a small change, but I really like it on my ‘78 R100. Gives the bike even longer legs. Since you are into the gearbox anyway.
