I'm in the Boston area and have a '72 R75/5, which I've owned since 1992.  I rode it coast-to-coast in '94, but it was off the road, in a cold garage, for a number of years I won't disclose [shuffles feet] but is back on the road, thanks to Duncan and Rob at Duncan's Beemers.  The bike has never let me down, and in the chilly hour-long ride back from the shop the other day, it ran the same as it always has -- so I'm optimistic that we're back in business.  Duncan suggested going ABC, so here I am!

John:

Welcome, and Welcome Back.  Spring is just around the corner, so I hope we will see you out there on the local roads and maybe at some of our local rides and events.

The most active communication channel for the Northeast Airheads is our Groups.io mailing list, I can put you on that list if you like.

Again, welcome.

Welcome from GA !

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.

@14325 Got the list confirmation - thanks! I swore off group rides a number of years ago, having found I was prone to riding too fast in an effort to keep up - almost unalived myself one day passing a line of cars, at the tail end of a group of bikes that had much more horsepower... when I completed the pass, I immediately pulled over, shut down, and said to myself, "Self, you just risked your life and those of other innocent people, just to keep up with a group of idiots who aren't considerate enough to run a safe ride!" At my advanced age, I'm less likely to do that, one hopes!  But other types of events/gatherings, I'm up for that. especially if they involve food.

Welcome from south Texas. I share your sentiment regarding group rides. My worst wreck was when I was young and foolish…and on a  too fast group ride. Personally, im just not relaxed in a group. Feel like I’m on edge watching where everyone is, and where I’m at, instead of enjoying the ride. Might go right past Mt. Rushmore and not notice it!  I have a good friend I do long distance rides with, and we are fine together. In fact, we have a blast together.  That’s the way to go for me.

I liked your term “unalived” … yes, something to avoid.
