My 94 R100GSPD speedometer has just recently started fluctuating from correct to high speeds holding for a bit and then swinging back. Seems that letting off throttle helps. Often occurs as I accelerate from a stop. Lube the cable? Tranny issue? Speedo issue?
Cable and drive issues would slow the reading. Readings that go higher sound like the instrument to me. Do a search on "speedo" here and also in your Airmail. There are several reputable rebuilders available.

Regarding the speedo slowing I agree. I have seen that before. No direct input in the forum or tech tips. I have Oaks index through 2002. Do you know if his family is still providing the updated version? Bless his soul...
