[#3305]

looking to see what resources there are for Airhead parts, new and used, as well as for parts and supplies that have a good track record with the group.

Will probably need to purchase replacement exhaust system for SWB R60/5, PO welded non BMW silencers to exhaust pipes. Will have to remove entire exhaust system, now 1 pc., or cut silencers off in order to replace rear main seal and possibly the clutch.

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.

Microfiche at Bob's is good too. He makes a point of stocking a large range of airhead parts. Heard an excellent interview with Bob on the Airhead 247 podcast. I've always had excellent service from them shipping to Canada.

Motorrad Elektrik is Rick Jones. Great guy.

Ted Porter’s BeemerShop is very good as well.  His website is somewhat limited, but CALL for the parts you need.

Then there is Euro Motoelectrics (EME) - great people, and they have lots of stuff!

Thanks for all those leads. Many years ago, when I tinkered with an airhead or two, I bought a lot of used parts from a place in Ohio, Re-Psycle, great people with lots of parts. Sadly their shop is closed.

The slash 5 that I just purchased came with a fairing, aftermarket I assume, welded on VW silencers etc. I was hoping to find used parts to replace the fairing with standard headlight and turnsignal setup and eliminate those VW silencers.

Been looking at the classifieds but no luck, so far. Maybe patience is called for..

I've seen a lot of airhead parts on ebay, too, if used parts aren't off the table.

I donated a garage full of /7 Airhead parts to Doug at Dusty Dog Cycles in NC.

(This is NOT the bicycle shop on the web.)

He reportedly has /2 and /5 parts. You might ring him when you have 2 hours to spare 828 V-V-VII 93 Oh V.

One word of warning... Doug is a talking machine. Make sure your ears are firmly attached before calling.

But Doug is the nicest person I know and your time will be well spent.

I see there is a Facebook group “R50/5 R60/5 R75/5” for /5 folks only. Might be some good leads in that group.

i used to live in Kentucky and did business now and then with Re-Psycle BMW.  They were good folks. Hated to see them close up shop.
