I recently picked up an ‘73 R75/5 toaster tank with a blown engine (previous owner installed an R100 oil cooler w/o the white o-ring and ran it till it seized). I’ve got an ‘82 R65 engine sitting on the shelf. Mechanically this seems like a pretty straightforward thing to swap in no question there.

My question is concerning the electronic ignition. It’s my understanding I can’t put points (not that I really want to) on the R65 so I will need to keep the bean can. Has anyone spliced a factory electronic ignition into an /5 harness or am I better bringing the whole R65 harness with me? Not sure where I’m going to mount everything so looking for advice.

The rest of the R75 is in great shape so I don’t really want to do too much moding to the frame I’d like to keep the headlight bucket intact if possible.
