Hi All - wondering if anyone knows if a 9 tooth starter drive will fit onto a 1976 75/6 armature.  I have a replacement flywheel with 111 teeth and want to use my old starter that is still in great shape. The old starter has the 8 tooth drive that I want to remove and replace with a 9 tooth drive matching the 111 teeth on flywheel. The parts fiche shows the 75/6 armature is listed as part 12 41 1 243 139 which is the same number listed for a 75/7 armature. The 75/7 model used the 9 tooth drive gear along with the 111 tooth flywheel change.  is my understanding wrong on this point? Has anyone actually tried to make this change?  Thanks for your feedback. 😀

I apologize for the late comment. I'm not on this forum much.  I would imagine a call to Rick @Motorrad Electrik could tell you if the exchange would work.

If you live in an area with an old school Auto-Electric shop that rebuilds starters and alternators take your starter in and see what they say about converting it. My local shop said that the same Bosch starter is used on industrial engines like forklifts. Unless the armature shaft is a different size, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

It works! Purchase a new bendix and made the switch. New bendix fit perfect and meshes with 111 tooth flywheel.
